Bite Squad Dental of NYC welcomes families from Canarsie, East Flatbush, Bergen Beach, and neighborhoods throughout East Brooklyn. Our Gravesend office on Coney Island Avenue is approximately 15 minutes west via Flatlands Avenue or the Belt Parkway, connecting your family to a pediatric dental practice trusted by more than 2,000 Brooklyn households. Dr. Yury Slepak and our team specialize in treating infants, toddlers, children, and teens with the patience and clinical expertise that parents depend on when choosing a dentist for their child.
Canarsie families often reach out to us because options for dedicated pediatric dental care in East Brooklyn are limited. Rather than settling for a general dentist who treats adults and children alike, parents want a practice that is fully set up for kids – from the size of the instruments and the chairs to the way the team communicates with a nervous four-year-old. That is the experience Bite Squad was built to provide.
Pediatric Dental Services for Canarsie Children
Comprehensive pediatric care from first tooth through adolescence
Low-Radiation Digital X-Rays
We use advanced digital X-ray technology that produces detailed, high-resolution images while significantly reducing radiation exposure compared to traditional film X-rays. These images allow Dr. Slepak to detect cavities between teeth, monitor the development of permanent teeth beneath the gums, check for bone abnormalities, and identify issues that are invisible during a visual exam. Digital X-rays are processed instantly, so we can review findings with you during the same visit.
Special Needs Pediatric Dentistry
Children with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory processing differences, and other developmental or medical conditions often require a tailored approach to dental care. Our team is experienced in adapting techniques, pacing, and communication to meet each child where they are. We take the time to understand your child's triggers and comfort strategies before starting any treatment. For children who cannot tolerate a standard office visit, Dr. Slepak offers hospital-based sedation with a board-certified anesthesiologist as a safe alternative.
Frenectomy (Lip Tie and Tongue Tie Release)
A tight or short frenulum - the small band of tissue connecting the lip or tongue to the gums - can interfere with an infant's ability to breastfeed, a toddler's speech development, or an older child's oral hygiene. A frenectomy is a quick, gentle procedure that releases the tissue and improves comfort and function. Dr. Slepak uses precise techniques that minimize discomfort, and most children recover within a few days with little to no pain.
Dental Development Evaluations
Regular developmental evaluations go beyond basic checkups. We track how your child's teeth are erupting, how their jaw is growing, and whether their bite is developing normally. Catching concerns like delayed eruption, crowding, crossbites, or unusual growth patterns early allows us to plan ahead and often simplifies treatment significantly. These evaluations are especially important between ages 5 and 12, when the transition from baby teeth to permanent teeth is most active.
How to Get to Bite Squad Dental from Canarsie
By Car
From the Rockaway Parkway area in Canarsie, take Flatlands Avenue westbound. Continue on Flatlands Avenue past Ralph Avenue and East 40th Street until you reach Flatbush Avenue. Turn left heading south on Flatbush Avenue and continue to Avenue U. Turn right on Avenue U heading west and continue to Coney Island Avenue - our office is at the intersection in Suite F2. The drive takes about 15-18 minutes depending on traffic. An alternate route that avoids surface street congestion: take Remsen Avenue south from Canarsie to the Belt Parkway westbound entrance. Follow the Belt Parkway west past Knapp Street and take the Coney Island Avenue exit heading north. Our office is on the left near Avenue U. This route also takes about 15 minutes and can be faster during rush hours when Flatlands Avenue gets backed up.
By Public Transit
From the Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway station, which is the eastern terminus of the L train, take the B42 bus southbound on Flatbush Avenue toward Kings Highway. At Avenue U, transfer to the B36 bus heading west, which stops near Coney Island Avenue. The full trip takes approximately 30-35 minutes. An alternative: the B82 bus runs along Kings Highway from the Canarsie area and stops near our office at the Coney Island Avenue intersection. If you are coming from the Seaview Avenue area, the B82 is likely the most direct bus option.
Parking
Street parking is available on Coney Island Avenue and the nearby residential side streets. The neighborhood around our office is primarily residential, so finding a spot during weekday appointment hours is usually straightforward.
Why Canarsie Families Make the Trip to Bite Squad
Kids-Only Practice
Every room, every instrument, and every team member is dedicated to treating children. No adult patients, no compromises.
Hospital Sedation
For children who need extensive work or have severe anxiety, Dr. Slepak performs care under general anesthesia at partner hospitals.
Weekend Emergencies
Knocked-out tooth on Saturday? Call us. Same-day emergency appointments available, including weekends.
Parents in Canarsie and East Brooklyn choose us because dedicated pediatric dental practices are rare in this part of the borough. Rather than compromising with a general dentist, families make the 15-minute drive to a practice that is designed specifically for children. Our team treats only pediatric patients, our technology includes low-radiation digital imaging and laser dentistry, and our sterilization protocols meet hospital-grade standards.
For families with children who have special needs, the difference is even more significant. Finding a dental provider who has genuine experience with sensory sensitivities, behavioral challenges, and complex medical conditions – and who has hospital sedation privileges as a backup – is not easy. It is one of the primary reasons families travel from Canarsie, East Flatbush, and Bergen Beach to see our team.
The Bite Squad Dental Team
Dr. Yury Slepak founded Bite Squad Dental over 20 years ago with a clear focus: making quality dental care accessible and comfortable for every child, regardless of age, temperament, or ability. He and his colleagues, Dr. Yelena Gofman and Dr. Jessica Borukhova, bring complementary strengths in preventive care, restorative treatment, and gentle behavior management. The team has access to three medical facilities - two in Brooklyn and one in Queens - for children who require hospital-based dental care.
