Our Gravesend office on Coney Island Avenue is about 12-15 minutes east via the Belt Parkway, giving your family access to board-certified pediatric dental specialists without a trip into Manhattan. Dr. Yury Slepak and our team bring over 20 years of experience and the confidence of more than 2,000 Brooklyn families to every appointment, from a toddler’s first checkup to a teenager’s orthodontic screening.
Bay Ridge parents often tell us they were looking for a practice that exclusively treats children rather than a general dental office that fits kids in between adult patients. That is exactly what Bite Squad is. Every aspect of our practice – the equipment, the treatment rooms, the team’s training, and the way we communicate with young patients – is built around pediatric care.
Specialized Dental Services for Bay Ridge Children
From preventive visits and protective treatments to advanced care that requires hospital-level resources, we offer a complete range of pediatric dental services for children at every stage of development.
Hospital-Based Dental Sedation
Some children need extensive dental work that is difficult to complete in a standard office setting. Others have medical conditions, severe anxiety, or sensory processing differences that make traditional appointments a challenge. For these patients, Dr. Slepak provides hospital-based dental care with a board-certified anesthesiologist supervising the sedation. This allows us to complete all necessary treatment in a single visit while your child rests safely and comfortably under general anesthesia. Not every pediatric dentist has hospital privileges - this is a level of care that sets our practice apart.
Professional Fluoride Treatment
Professional-strength fluoride applications go beyond what your child gets from toothpaste or tap water. Applied as a varnish during a regular visit, the treatment strengthens developing enamel and creates a more resistant surface against acid and bacteria. It is especially important for children who are cavity-prone or whose enamel is still maturing. The application takes just a few minutes and provides months of added protection.
Space Maintainers
When a baby tooth is lost too early due to decay, injury, or extraction, the surrounding teeth can drift into the gap and block the permanent tooth from coming in properly. A space maintainer is a small custom device that holds the opening until the adult tooth is ready to emerge. This relatively simple intervention can prevent crowding, misalignment, and the need for more extensive orthodontic treatment later on. Dr. Slepak monitors the space and removes the maintainer when the permanent tooth begins to erupt.
Early Orthodontic Screening
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child receive an orthodontic evaluation by age seven. At this stage, Dr. Slepak can assess your child's bite, jaw growth, and tooth alignment to identify emerging issues while the jaw is still developing. Early detection does not always mean early treatment, but when intervention is needed, starting at the right time can reduce complexity and duration of future orthodontic care significantly.

What Makes Bite Squad Dental Different
Kids-Only Practice
Every room, every instrument, and every team member is dedicated to treating children. No adult patients, no compromises.
Hospital Sedation
For children who need extensive work or have severe anxiety, Dr. Slepak performs care under general anesthesia at partner hospitals.
Weekend Emergencies
Knocked-out tooth on Saturday? Call us. Same-day emergency appointments available, including weekends.
Bay Ridge families choose Bite Squad for a few key reasons. Our hospital sedation privileges mean that children who need significant dental work, or who have medical conditions that complicate standard visits, have a safe and supervised option. Our same-day emergency appointments, available on weekends, mean parents do not have to take an anxious child to a crowded ER when a tooth gets knocked out at a Saturday soccer game. And our technology – including low-radiation digital X-rays, laser dentistry, and hospital-grade sterilization – reflects a commitment to the highest standard of pediatric dental care.
Most importantly, every member of our team treats only children. That focused experience translates into a level of comfort and confidence that general dental practices simply do not replicate. Our providers know how to talk to a scared three-year-old, how to explain a procedure to a curious ten-year-old, and how to make a self-conscious teenager feel at ease.
